Winsome Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan lies on the Caspian Sea. It has Russia and Georgia in the north, Armenia in the west, and Iran in the south. Azerbaijan has nine of the 11 defined ecological zones. It experiences a temperate climate year-round. The cosmopolitan capital, the ancient city Baku is located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea. The core of Baku is the old town, or fortress of Icheri-Shekher. The picturesque old town houses the fascinating Palace of the Shīrvān-Shāhs (now a museum), the oldest part of which dates from the 11th century. Another notable historic building is the mausoleum of the astronomer Seida Bakuvi. The town of Naftalan is famous for its special petroleum oil baths (spas). The largest tourist destination in Azerbaijan is Khachmaz with great beaches and beautiful forests. In the surrounding semi-desert are mud volcanoes which spout up in over 300 locations nationwide, constituting to more than half the total throughout the world.
The best time to visit Azerbaijan is April to June and September to October. The Persian New Year, the Novruz Bayrami celebrations also are a favourite tourist attraction each March. The currency is the Azerbaijan Manat (AZN or ₼) which equals INR 41.88-41.95(fluctuates).
