Lovely Cambodia
Cambodia lies completely within the tropics with its southern most points slightly more than 10° above the Equator. The capital city Phnom Penh was once known as the ‘Pearl of Asia’. It is situated at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers. The Tonlé Sap or Grate Lake, is the largest natural lake in Southeast Asia and the only “river with return” in the world. Cambodia’s climate is dominated by monsoons. It experiences tropical monsoons and temperatures between 21°C to 35°C. Cambodia is considered Southeast Asia’s most vulnerable country to the effects of climate change. It is a country where ancient and modern worlds collide, leading to an exotic adventure. The World Heritage Angkor Wat temple is the most famous and favourite tourist spot. It is not only the heart and soul of Cambodia, but a source of fierce national pride. Cambodia’s largest protected land, the Virachey National Park, is among seven other National Parks in Cambodia and lies towards the northeast of the country. Another tourist attraction is kayaking the delta of the mighty Mekong River. A must go for adventurers! You might just be lucky enough to come face to face with the Irrawaddy dolphin. The best time to visit Cambodia is between November and April, when it sees very little rain. The currency is Cambodian Riel (KHR or Riel) which equals INR 0.016-0.020 (fluctuates).
