Charm Chile
Chile is a long, narrow South American country between the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Diverse landscapes and great wilderness unfurl in this fascinating country. Chile boasts of the most pristine natural landscapes found in the world, unspoiled by humans. The capital city Santiago, is located in the country’s central valley, flanked by the main chain of the Andes to the east and the Chilean Coastal Range to the west. Santiago is a city rich with museums and galleries.
Apart from Santiago, Chile is full of ethereal sights to behold. 13 kilometers west of San Pedro de Atacama at the north end of the country lies the enchanting Valle de la Luna or the “Valley of the Moon”. This area in the heart of the Atacama Desert bears an eerie resemblance to the surface of the moon. It is one of the driest places on Earth, dazzlingly white due to deposited salt. A must visit is the Rapa Nui National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on Easter Island. It is home to 887 statues, known as Moai, created by the island’s early Rapa Nui population. It is also home to a beautiful beach of white coral sand, called Anakena. The best time to enjoy the festivities in Chile is in January and February when a range of events throughout the country are centred around food, music, dance and culture. The currency is the Chilean Peso (CLP or $) which equals INR 52-55(fluctuates).
