Egypt with the mighty Nile and the ancient Pharaohs, is an explorer’s paradise. Located in the northeast corner of Africa, Egypt has one of the longest histories of any country. Egypt is home to one of the most iconic landmarks in the world – the Great Pyramid at Giza which is also counted as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, that is still intact. The country has one of the oldest civilisations in the world. It has an extremely arid climate. Winter lasts from November to March and summer from May to September. Winters are cool and mild, and the summers are hot. Cairo is the Egyptian capital and the largest city in the country. The beaches in Egypt, on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, are also popular tourist destinations. You could head towards Sinai to soak up the sun, or to Aswan upon the winding curves of the Nile. A favourite tourist spot is the natural White Desert with surreally shaped chalk mountains. History awaits you at the city of Luxor, which is famous for the Valley of the Kings where Tutankhamun’s tomb was unearthed. The European city Alexandria is perfect for letting life pass you by. You can visit the cafes at leisure or forget the world on the Corniche seashore. Do not forget to go on a cruise on the Nile. The best months to visit Egypt are from October to April, when temperatures are lower. The currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP or E£) which equals INR 4-5(fluctuates).
