Valuable Paraguay
Paraguay is a little-known country in South America which is much misunderstood. It is landlocked between Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia. Located at the centre of the continent, it is also known as the “Heart of South America”. Paraguay offers a truly authentic South American experience. A country full of contrasts, it is rustic and sophisticated. Spectacular natural reserves go hand-in-hand with massive human-made dams. The steamy subtropical Atlantic Forest of the east blatantly contrasts the dry, spiny wilderness of the Chaco. The first thing that stands out in the Atlantic Forest is the mixed species of flocks everywhere. Whereas, Chaco is all about excellent rural tourism opportunities!
The capital city of Paraguay, Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Asunción, is located on the left bank of the Paraguay River. In short Asunción, is also the largest city in the country. It is also known as the “Mother of Cities” as it is one of South America’s oldest continually inhabited. Head to the Ybytyruzú mountain range for the enigmatic Itá Letra (‘Piedra con Letra’), ancient petroglyphs which are one of the great mysteries of early Paraguayan settlement. The climate of Paraguay is subtropical in the Paranaense region and tropical in the Chaco. The best time to visit is from September to early December when the weather is cooler. The currency is the Paraguayan Guarani (PYG or ₲) which equals INR 0.010-0.015(fluctuates).
