Enjoyable Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is a country full of diverse cultural heritage. Located in Central Asia, it possesses numerous photogenic mosques, mausoleums and madrasas in myriad shades of blue. The capital Tashkent, is the main economic and cultural centre and the largest city in Central Asia. The country is deeply infused with the history of the Silk Road. Three of the silk route’s most important cities Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand are in Uzbekistan, and were the key stop-offs for traders. The Bibi-Khanym Mosque is one of the most important monuments of Samarkand and was, at a point in time, one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world. Another tourist spot is the Ulugh Beg Observatory. Built by the Timurid astronomer Ulugh Beg, it is till date considered by scholars to have been one of the finest observatories in the Islamic world. Commuting in Tashkent is not only easy on the metro system but also picturesque. The subway is one of the most ornate in the world, where each station is embellished from chandelier-lit spaces with baroque flourishes to traditional Islamic designs. The climate in Uzbekistan can be classified as continental, with hot summers and cool winters. The best months to visit the country are April to May and September to early November, during spring and autumn. It is typically warm and dry during these months. The currency is Uzbek Som (UZS or лв) which equals INR 0.0072-0.0075 (fluctuates).
