Good To Know:
- Vietnam is 1hrs 30mins ahead of Indian Standard Time
- Shopping in Hanoi is most famed for its traditional markets and narrow shophouses, but there are a growing number of flash boutiques and shopping malls offering a wide range of international brands. The best thing about shopping in Hanoi is that you can do it all on foot, with many streets dedicated to specific trades. This is particularly true in the Old Quarter, where Silk Street and Silver Street still retain their particular trades after hundreds of years.
- The city’s lively bars and glitzy nightclubs are conveniently set around Hoan Kiem Lake in the Old Quarter, where you can enjoy great tunes and all sorts of booze as well as mix and mingle with fun-loving locals and expats. However, a night out in Hanoi is not complete without sitting back on plastic stools and enjoy bia hoi (Vietnamese draft beer) along the bustling streets.
- Vietnam is home to several distinct climate patterns from north to south. From December to March, North Vietnam has cool weather. April brings sunny skies until the monsoon rains arrive in June. Central Vietnam has lots of sunshine most of the year, but November and December can be wet and overcast. Southern Vietnam is always warm, and temperatures soar mid-year. You can expect daily downpours from June to August.
- Local means of transportation in the city are buses, motorbike, taxis, bicycle. Motorbike tours are also available.
- Telephones:– Suggest to buy a local SIM card, which are easily available by showing your passport. It is advisable to carry an international travel adaptor to avoid any inconvenience.
